TRUTH

Chiropractic can cause me more pain or hurt

When you are in quite a bit of pain it is often scary to have someone touch you however various chiropractic adjustments are gentle to help ease the pain. Most people find chiropractic adjustments very comfortable and pleasant. It is possible to experience a little discomfort at first as scar tissue may be loosened like cleaning a wound however most the of the soreness that may arise from the adjustment is minimal and can feel like you worked muscles you haven’t in some time.

Chiropractic Neck adjustments can cause a STROKE

The actual incidence of stroke following cervical manipulation was found to be one per 5.85 million cervical adjustments and those people who did suffer a stroke were already PRE-DISPOSED to getting a stroke whether they turned their neck suddenly, went to get their hair washed at the salon or any other type of neck movement. Chiropractic treatment has been proven to be the safest non-invasive, drug free treatment of neck and pain.

Seeing a physical therapist is the same as seeing a chiropractor

Chiropractic treatment is different from physical therapy in that chiropractors not only work on muscles and ligaments but they also are licensed to gently and specifically move bones in the joint space to relieve nerve pressure. Physical therapists are NOT licensed to manipulate joints.

Chiropractors only treat the spine

Chiropractors are capable of working on all the joints of the body including the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles, feet, jaw and ribs. Any joint in your body that is not articulating or moving properly may be helped through chiropractic treatment.

Chiropractic care is unnecessary or unsafe for children

It is estimated by OSHA that the average child sustains 1,500 spinal–related traumas before the age of 5. Regular chiropractic care can help minimize and correct those adverse effects. In addition, getting children checked for hereditary spinal conditions such as scoliosis can minimize spinal pain and problems as an adult. Chiropractors safely work with newborn babies to the elderly varying the types of treatment which so it is safe and gentle.

Cracking noises are the sound of joints grinding

Joints are not grinding during a chiropractic adjustment. The ‘popping’ noise that is heard is a small gas bubble releasing. Just like the popping heard from opening a bottle of champagne or a can of soda, is the same as the noise heard during an adjustment which is not only painless but safe. There are now many other techniques of chiropractic adjustments that do not cause any ‘popping’ noises during a treatment.

Cracking of the joints can cause arthritis

Specific chiropractic adjustments that gently move the joints do not cause arthritis, on the contrary it may be able to prevent arthritis in joints.

Chiropractors are not ‘real’ doctors

Chiropractic care is EXPENSIVE

Chiropractic treatment because of the effectiveness is one of the MOST COST EFFECTIVE treatments for your health. Most people spend thousands of dollars on maintaining their cars over a few years which is replaceable instead of investing a little money into their own bodies. In addition, many insurance companies cover chiropractic treatment because of the cost effectiveness vs surgery and medications.

Once you see a chiropractor you have to go FOREVER

Seeing a chiropractor on a regular basis is a choice, not mandatory. Just like staying healthy by exercising regularly or flossing your teeth, many people choose to continue regular chiropractic care since they feel more flexible, healthier and therefore experience an improved quality of life..

Chiropractic care is only for people with pain or injuries

Although most seek chiropractic care for aches and pain, chiropractic treatment is helpful for healthy individuals too who want to maximize their mobility and overall health.

Almost all PPO insurances that include chiropractic coverage do not require any type of referral for chiropractic treatment but some HMO plans may require a referral.

Isn’t it the same as when I ‘pop’ or ‘crack’ my own back?

Popping or moving your own joints may provide a temporary relief because of an endorphin release but it is short lived because most of the time the joint is not being moved accurately to the proper position. It may actually cause further pain and serious damage to your body. You wouldn’t have a dentist preform heart surgery because they aren’t trained to do so. Therefore it isn’t recommended to move your own joints when you aren’t trained.

Chiropractic doesn’t help with arthritis

Many arthritis sufferers find that getting chiropractic treatment makes a huge difference in reducing symptoms of stiffness, pain and numbness from putting motion into their joints. Arthritis is a degenerative condition where if you don’t move the joint it will die. Chiropractic treatment helps to keep the joints alive and minimize aches and pains. Often times, chiropractic treatment to patients with arthritis in joints can prevent arthritis from spreading to other joints too.

Chiropractic care is not effective

Millions of people have benefited from regular Chiropractic care, including: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tiger Woods, Lance Armstrong, Christie Brinkley, Emmit Smith, Joe Montana and many others.

My medical doctor doesn’t approve
